Moshe Feldenkrais, a scientist and a pioneer of body/mind systems, developed a unique and highly effective way to overcome our habitual patterns of pain and tension. The day will offer a combination of body awareness and concrete information about the body to learn to move optimally. The benefits are feeling calm with a sense of well-being, improved posture and alignment, better breathing with some strategies of how to implement the benefits of the workshop into your daily life. Feldenkrais is highly valued by people in the arts, in sports, and anyone feeling tense, stiff, and awkward or struggling to know what to do about back or neck and shoulder pain. It is also valued by those who practise mindfulness, as the body is a doorway to being in the present. The exercises are quiet and slow, and very pleasant to do. Some people worry about the day being long - be reassured that there are breaks, many exercises are down lying down - they are not aerobic or harsh - and there will be some exercises with a partner. People generally feel very, very good after Feldenkrais work, and it is suitable whatever your age or ability to move.
